Every 18 months or so, the lunar nodes change signs. This November, the shadow planets leave the Aquarius-Leo axis and move into Capricorn and Cancer. Rahu moves from Aquarius into Capricorn, while Ketu moves from Leo into Cancer on November 25, 2026 for the True Node and December 5, 2026 for the Mean Node. The nodes then stay in this axis for about 18 months, until mid-2028.
In Vedic astrology, Rahu and Ketu are not physical planets but the two points where the Moon's orbit crosses the Sun's apparent path. They always move backward through the zodiac. They are believed to exert influence at a psychic level, hence known as the metaphysical planets (Chhaya Graha). Mostly these can give sudden unexpected experiences both favourable and unfavourable.
The theme of the next 18 months is ambition versus belonging. Rahu asks how far you will climb, and Ketu asks what you are leaving behind to do it.
In Vedic astrology, Rahu and Ketu are not physical planets but the two points where the Moon's orbit crosses the Sun's apparent path. They always move backward through the zodiac. They are believed to exert influence at a psychic level, hence known as the metaphysical planets (Chhaya Graha) as well. Mostly these can give sudden unexpected experiences both favourable and unfavourable.
• Rahu is hunger, ambition, obsession and the future. It amplifies whatever it touches.
• Ketu is detachment, past karma, intuition and release. It dissolves whatever it touches.
This axis joins two signs ruled by Saturn and the Moon, which stand for structure and emotion. Saturn is an extremely cold dry planet and Moon rules over water.
Rahu in Capricorn (ruled by Saturn) pushes ambition toward careers, institutions, authority and status. Expect a collective hunger for achievement, new corporate and governmental structures, new policies which may not be welcome by people at large, besides Saturn governs time and pressure to prove oneself. The risk is shortcuts, workaholism and chasing titles at the expense of everything else. Saturn expects one to be humble and kind especially to the old and ageing, less fortunate sections of the society.
Ketu in Cancer (ruled by the Moon) loosens attachment to home, mother, family patterns and emotional comfort zones. Wherever Ketu sits in native's natal birthchart, Ketu will bless the individual with expertise with regards to that area, as native would have practised enough in previous lifetimes, hence usually there will be a sense of detachment or if one is attached the planet will ensure, native ends up sacrificing. Besides sometimes it might give extreme attachment, it can feel like homesickness for something you can't name, or a quiet pull toward spiritual practice. It also brings the chance to finally resolve old family karma.

The effects of this nodal transit will not be felt equally by all.
• Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) tend to channel Rahu in Capricorn productively.
• Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) feel Ketu's emotional pull most strongly.
• Anyone with planets or the ascendant at 0 to 10 degrees of Capricorn or Cancer should pay extra attention, as the nodes will sit directly on those points.
For career and ambition (Rahu in Capricorn):
• Build slowly and ethically. Rahu rewards ambition but punishes deception.
• Read contracts and fine print carefully.
• Avoid burning out. Success without rest is a Rahu trap.
For home and emotions (Ketu in Cancer):
• Make time to heal old family wounds rather than avoid them.
• Don't make big emotional decisions in a moment of detachment.
• Try meditation or time near water to ground the Moon's energy. Do not waste water.
These are customary practices in Vedic tradition, offered as personal spiritual support, not guaranteed outcomes.
• Rahu: Chant "Om Raam Rahave Namah" or recite the Durga Chalisa on Saturdays. Donate black sesame, blankets or dark lentils on Saturdays.
• Ketu: Chant "Om Strang Ketave Namah" or worship Lord Ganesha on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Feed stray dogs and donate to animal shelters.
• General: Maintain a daily gratitude practice, respect your elders, and keep your inner world honest as your outer ambitions grow.
Rahu and Ketu are teachers rather than villains. Rahu shows what you desire, and Ketu shows what you need to outgrow. This transit invites you to build something real without losing your roots. The most successful path through it is to grow professionally while staying emotionally honest.
